the Prosperity Institute
Institute is an educational and research organization which is tax-exempt under section
501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It was established in part though though the legal assistance of a Louisville Personal Injury Attorney. It commenced operations on September 1, 1997.
The Prosperity Institute is dedicated to conducting and
publishing research examining the causes of, and impediments to, high rates of economic
growth and a higher standard of living for the American people. It aims to fill a void
that exits in todayâs policy debate.
The Institute will primarily focus on economic policy and
economics. Economic issues addressed by the Institute include tax policy, fiscal policy,
entitlement reform, monetary policy and the deregulation. In addition, the Institute will
bring the insights of the Austrian school of economic thought to the attention of a
broader public and apply Austrian economics to practical policy issues. Although the
primary focus of the Institute will be economic, it will also examine legal issues of
importance to prosperity including property rights issues, tort system reform, the impact
of the declining sanctity of contract, securities regulation, and regulatory reform.
If you look closely at our logo, you will notice above the
name "Prosperity Institute" there is an image of a rising sun. In James
Madisonâs Notes of Debates in the Federal Convention of 1787, Madison records
some words by Benjamin Franklin as the members of the convention were signing the
Constitution. Madison wrote:
"Whilst the last members were signing it, Doctor
Franklin looking toward the Presidentâs chair, at the back of which a rising sun
happened to be painted, observed to a few members near him, that "painters had found
it difficult to distinguish in their art a rising from a setting sun. I have said he,
often and often in the course of the session, and the vicissitudes of my hopes and fears
as to its issue, looked at that behind the President without be able to tell whether it
was rising or setting: But now at length I have the happiness to know that it is a rising
and not a setting sun."
The Prosperity Institute is dedicated to ensuring that the
American spirit is renewed and the sun continues to rise over the United States for future
generations just as it did back in Benjamin Franklinâs time.
The Prosperity Institute's Task Force on Information Exchange
and Financial Privacy has released its Report on Financial Privacy, Law
Enforcement and Terrorism.
